Fern Biological Industries Training

First bit of writing and lore on here, ain't that fun??? Anyway. Please heed the warnings, this is gonna get pretty whumpy. CW: Mentions of auctions, unethical training, nonhuman whumpees, conditioning, brainwashing, animal abuse, multiple whumpers.

There are three subclasses that Specimens are categorized in by FBI facilities: Guard Dog, Royal, and Enforcer.

Royals are typically auctioned off or bought by wealthy people after thirteen to fourteen years of brainwashing training techniques. They're brainwashed into being sophisticated, polite, and intelligent in mainly physics and mathematics, but also bear knowledge to how to run kingdoms or businesses in a professional and nonaggressive manner. Royals lucky enough to be naturally born rather than genetically created are raised alongside their parents in training, and are treated fairly well by staff and trainers.

Outside of this system, buyers can request extra training or include stuff they want their Royal to know. This is also used frequently for Guard Dogs, though not as frequently for Enforcers.

Royals are identified by a crown tattoo on their wrist; a special gold ink is used for Ophidians and Sireni, and a gold feather-and-fur dye is used for Harpees, Vrynirs, etc.

Guard Dogs are trained much more violently and aggressively on top of the brainwashing techniques used for Royals. Guard Dogs, or simply referred to as "Dogs", are assigned one to two trainers to do who-knows-what with. Conditioning and abuse are looked over by superiors in favor of keeping an eye on how Royals are treated. Dogs are mostly genetically created, but ones naturally born are instantly taken from still-nursing mothers to be held in testing tubes and fed nutrients through IVs until they reach two years of age. The mothers are only used three times to breed each year, and are then sold to auctions or private buyers.

Guard Dogs are always identified by a cattle tag in their ear given to them by those who purchase them in an auction or are pre-tagged by their trainer or trainers by a private buyer.

Enforcers are Specimens trained to uphold some form of brutal, twisted law that is always mob-controlled. Similar to Guard Dogs, Enforcers have a violent training regime, though they're also enrolled in specialized classes to test their durability against being shot, stabbed, and sprayed in the eyes and nose with bear mace. The physical training for Enforcers are always a requirement whether their buyer wants them to go through it or not, and it's probably the most humane training a non-Royal Specimen can receive. Enforcers, much like Guard Dogs, are either genetically created or bred, though the mothers are forced to nurse and wean their litters before having them taken away for training rather than having them taken when they're still newborns like Guard Dogs.

Any Specimen involved in Royal, Enforcer or Guard Dog training are always brainwashed to forget the trauma they went through, though trainers have a say in what they want their Specimens to remember. Some, mostly for Guard Dogs, is very fucked up and has a huge toll on their mental health.

Specimen parents are brainwashed into forgetting their cubs' training or forgetting their cubs in general depending on what their buyers or trainers want. If a Specimen is naturally born and never met their parents, brainwashing them to forget who truly raised them is unnecessary. However, Royals are usually forbidden to forget their parents unless the circumstance calls for it, though Guard Dogs are not as lucky.

Hey, Yuri, do you think Yuu would ever run the risk of being put in danger by having a romantic relationship with any of the more high-profile members of the cast? I mean, we’ve got royalty, nobility, celebrities, and the very wealthy attending this school. I’ve just been rotating my brain about how these relationships would work out and Yuu is a pretty vulnerable target without NRC’s security. - 🦐

Hmmmmmm. I have a bunch of thoughts about this actually... I tried ranking them from least to most dangerous if that makes sense? But don't read too deeply into the bullet point placements they were mostly just a stream of consciousness thing.

Not that Risky (surprisingly)

Leona- we don't really have details about his brother's marriage, but I don't think his family has been shown to be overly keen on forming alliances with outside countries, the Savannah seems more concerned with itself. I don't think his family would be too fussed with his partner being a magicless person from outerspace, if anything this might be seen as a plus to the councilors that are always mocking Leona behind his back as his partner's lack of royal blood makes him even less fit for the throne. Not to mention Leona himself is more than enough to protect Yuu, he's the only royal at the school without a proper retainer (which you could argue is because no one at home likes him) but I doubt his family would let him do that if he was genuinely in danger.

Rook- he's Rook. His family does sound rather sweet from the very very very little we know about him (he also seems like he was kind of sheltered as a kid, something I should chew on sometime) so I doubt they would allow anything too bad to happen to Yuu.

Vil- his main issue is his contract, the Japanese Idol industry is cut throat and often sees things like bans on relationships as part of the contract. Vil doesn't want to risk his career or reputation, he mentions that he himself is a brand and I can't see him wanting to put that pressure on Yuu if they're not up for it. But... there are also celebrities who have really private personal lives and I sort of get the sense Vil is like that? And I don't think he would be too bothered if Yuu didn't want to be super public, it would certainly make it easier to keep you safe.

Idia- S.T.Y.X. might be a gloomy place but no one knows where it is

Medium Danger (danger is real but can be managed)

Jade and Floyd- we don't actually know what their family does, just that it's probably sketchy and that Mama Leech calls them every day, taught them self defense, and just generally seems to worry about them a lot. The danger is very real under the sea, but I also sort of get the sense that messing with the Leech family is skipping the fuck around and going straight to find out.

Azul- his business is going to make him enemies sooner or later, but at least during school Yuu should be more or less safe. Azul's able to keep on top of the students who mean Yuu harm, and Yuu is able to politely ignore their boyfriend's business (or maybe they have a knack for helping?) When you get older I can see Azul's need for a security team expanding, but he'll have money to get the best.

Riddle- ok so. I don't think his mom would try to kill you. But god she would be such a toxic person to manage. I'm actually working on a (very old) request atm that involves discussing what Riddle's mom might do if she finds Riddle with a partner instead of his studies (which I assume she's paying for) especially during his internship. She'd go full scorched earth and get very confused when Yuu doesn't back off like Trey did.

Huston We Have a Problem

Kalim- the amount of assassination attempts my poor boy has already canonically endured... I imagine there are probably going to be more in his future. I can see Yuu needing their own retainer (which could be a fun concept for an oc) to protect them and test their food. When Grim becomes a great mage I'm sure he could help with that actually, wouldn't that be cute?!

MALLEUS- acceptance of humans is virtually non existence in Briar Valley AND his mother hated humans so much she "blessed" her child to only be loved by fae. We don't actually know how the senate works but I imagine they would lose their ever loving shit if Malleus brought home a human as a friend and now he wants to make them his spouse? No. They say no. Time to show them what an absolute monarchy means I guess.

Assuming Yuu isn't in a relationship with Malleus I could see their friendship actually sort of being a boon to them, especially if Yuu was with Kalim or Azul. Pissing of the merchants is one thing, but the King of the Abyss? No thank you, they'll just take their losses and go.

Shrimpsune Miku??

I saw this art challenge about drawing Hatsune Miku as someone from your oc world, so I tried it!! I drew her as a puenymph, and she’s a blue shrimp! I considered making her a bunny with floppy ears as her pigtails, but I already have an oc like that, so I went with the shrimp and made her pigtails the antennae (plus it’s fitting with her color pallette)

I just wanted to watch a silly show that I would enjoy but not get too invested in and I accidentally stumbled upon the most insane relationship between 2 characters that has ever existed in any media ever. So what is shimmers relationship with her brother like?

Shimmer and Hamlet get along well. They are your average sibling relationship with all the highs and lows. However, Hamlet is jealous of Shimmer in numerous ways he is not mature enough to pinpoint yet. But that's all I'm going to say here.

Their relationship with each other along with the rest of Gardenview will be explored more in their ask blog @the-gardenview-family which everyone who is interested in them should check out lol <33

SS&S ch. 10 is sitting at 3254 words now, and yes, Kel is going through experiences.

Some people were surprised by how "friendly" Kel seems with some things, like the mannequins. When I first played the game, I already knew a couple of things thanks to watching this video from Vinesauce Joel, but I was still too scared to hurt them.

So I just put them all in the reception desk room and locked the door. I think at one point there was eight or more just locked in there.

So instead of doing that in the story, I kind of decided to make them harmless little pranksters, wanting nothing more than to give Kel a good spook from time to time. I thought it would be more entertaining than just "Alright, to prison with you."

It's about time I went to show off characters kept in the rambles! Here we got Paprika and Arbol

A studying nurse to doctor in her field, Paprika was taken in by Ambrosia and their crew quite a few years ago now! Often having the compliment of being in relation to Giant Clam and Scallop, she boarded with the both of them to start off this new journey on land to try and take a refresh of life. With the caring and warm-hearted job she put herself in, her sarcastic and blunt demeanor shine through... However, she remains caring and soft in the heart, evident in her meticulous stitches and unwavering loyalty.

As for Arbol, a sudden new link to Paprika's family line, he's been so far claimed the technician parts of the crew ship! Shown up years later in the search of his former niece, now newly adopted daughter, upon hearing the situation where they were starting anew and out of the water. Now, here they both were stuck together! Giving Paprika and the rest of the crew, his much needed support and smarts... which of how he got to land immediately turns into a yap fest, so it's best to leave it to the imagination...

Captain Ambrosia, Giant Clam, and Scallop all belong to @rawdough as well as all of these rambles originate between us both! LOL

So I haven’t really seen talk of it here, but I know on the original Twitter post with the new Cookie’s silhouette I saw people thinking it’s a shrimp, which I mean, I think’d be cool

But also, now that I remember sea creatures are on the table for Cookies, I now want a Cookie based on the pistol shrimp, aka the shrimp with basically an actual gun for a claw

Basically they shoot bubbles from their claws that are nearly as hot as the surface of the sun and are also really loud

I don’t care which game this hypothetical Cookie would be in, either Ovenbreak because that’s where most of the sea creatures are, or Kingdom because its weapon can be properly utilized, I just want it

And if you choose Compassion, you talk her down from that Rage—a plot point that we have seen before.

They really put Down Among the Dead Men (Tevinter Nights) in Veilguard, welcome back Audric Dragonage, this sure is working overtime to prove that Titans function the same as spirits because they're the things that make spirits.
